potenza wellness services does not accept COMMERCIAL insurance

potenza wellness services DOES ACCEPT HUSKY/MEDICAID

Potential clients often ask about insurance and payment. We are a Husky/Medicaid provider. Outside of Husky, we are a private pay, out-of-network (OON) provider, which means that we’re not in network with any commercial insurance companies and payment is due after each session. We are happy to provide super bills that you can submit to your insurance company for partial reimbursement for OON psychotherapy, if available based on your plan and deductible. If you want to use OON benefits, we recommend you call your insurance provider and clarify what they cover.

OWNER / THERAPIST

A wife and mother, Stephanie is a trained, professional Marital & Family Therapist. She works with individuals, parents, couples and families both in person in her Shelton office and online through telehealth.

Stephanie specializes in parenting. She loves working with parent units on routine, structure and consistency, as well as intentionality. As a mom herself, Stephanie understands how difficult parenting can sometimes be. She has found that the best way to make lasting, positive changes with children is to work in a hierarchical order - working with parents first, children second - on emotional, behavioral, social and academic issues, as well as directing mental health interventions in children and teenagers. She also facilitates parenting groups and has led teams and discussions in Connecticut public schools on stress management and early childhood therapeutic strategies.

In addition to working with parenting challenges, family issues, and emotional health, Stephanie works regularly with couples and focuses on increasing communication, connection, and intimacy, while interrupting patterns that aren't working.

CONNIE is Connecticut's new Health Information Exchange (HIE) program. This program is meant for providers to easily share and access client information with the intention of excellent patient care. What is also important to know is that your mental health information can be accessed by other health professionals who do not need this information to provide care to you. If you do not opt out, you are automatically opted into this program. Providers do not have a choice to opt out from this program for their clients. It is your choice what happens with your mental health information. If you want to opt out of this program, please click below.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long will I need to be in therapy?

Every person, couple and family differ in the time that they need to complete treatment. While we can’t predict the number of sessions you will need, we can say that consistency is best. Consistent, weekly therapy sessions will get you where you want to be faster.

What are your fees?

Initial Consultation (up to 15 min): $0

Intake Session (60 - 75 min): $250

Standard Session (50 min): $200

What forms of payment do you accept?

To simplify the payment process, Potenza Wellness Services requires a credit card to be kept securely on file in Simple Practice (Visa, MasterCard, American Express, JCB, Discover, and Diners Club; FSA and HSA cards) which will be automatically billed on the same day as your session. This ensures a seamless experience and allows us to focus on your therapy without the hassle of payment transactions.

What is your cancellation policy?

When you book a session with us, we reserve that specific time slot just for you and we’re counting on you to be there. Consistency is key for effective therapy, and frequent cancellations disrupt the treatment process.

Therefore, Potenza Wellness Services has a 24 hour cancellation policy. You can cancel or reschedule (provided we have availability) an appointment if you provide at least 24 hours’ notice. If you cancel an appointment with less than 24 hours’ notice, or fail to show up, you will be charged the full session fee.* If you find that you are unable to commit to your appointment time, let’s talk about some good alternatives.

*Exceptions are made for emergencies

Do you accept insurance?

Potenza Wellness Services accepts Husky/Medicaid insurance ONLY. We do not accept commercial insurance.

Are there benefits to working with a private pay practitioner?

Potenza Wellness Services operates as a “private pay practitioner.” We do not participate in any commercial insurance network. We do not bill, communicate with, or accept payment from commercial insurance companies. Choosing to work with us as private pay therapists offers several benefits to clients:

Maximized Choice and Flexibility: As private pay therapists, we have the freedom to tailor our sessions to meet your specific needs without the limitations imposed by insurance panels. This allows for more personalized and effective therapy, as we can focus on what matters most to you.

Eased Access to Care: As a private pay client, you have the advantage of receiving services promptly without worrying about the lengthy approval process and administrative hassles imposed by insurance companies. This means you can start therapy sooner and receive the support you need without unnecessary delays.

Heightened Confidentiality and Privacy: As private pay therapists, confidentiality and privacy are prioritized. Since we do not have to involve insurance companies, your personal information remains securely within our therapeutic relationship. Insurance companies often limit coverage to services deemed "medically necessary," which can restrict the scope of your care. Additionally, utilizing insurance necessitates a mental health diagnosis being documented in your permanent health record. As private pay therapists, your sessions and progress stay between us.

Customized Treatment Method: Without the constraints imposed by insurance requirements, we can explore a broader range of therapeutic modalities and techniques that best align with your unique goals and preferences. This flexibility allows for a more tailored and effective treatment experience.

Prime Payment Process: Working with us as private pay therapists means you have a streamlined and hassle-free payment process. With a credit card on file, you don't need to worry about submitting claims or waiting for reimbursement. Payments are automatically processed, allowing you to focus solely on your therapeutic journey.

It's important to carefully consider what approach best suits your needs when deciding whether to work with us as private pay therapists or utilize insurance coverage. By weighing the benefits of personalized care, privacy, and streamlined payment against potential insurance restrictions, you can make an informed choice that aligns with your unique circumstances and goals..
